Naughty By Nature

Não se faz mais HipHop como antigamente...
Hoje enquanto fazia o meu trajeto de volta para casa, resolvi ouvir um pouco de música, então preparei meu mp3 player genêrico com a minha coleção do Naughty By Nature e comecei a lembrar como o verdadeiro HipHop é bom (ao contrário das porcarias que se ouve hoje em dia.
Na verdade, o problema não é que o HipHop de hoje seja ruim; o problema é que não se sabe mais diferenciar HipHop de outros estilos semelhantes e/ou derivados - tipo rap e etc.
Enfim, outro dia faço um discurso sobre HipHop (de raiz hehe). Vamos ao Naughty...

Esse feios ai (Treach, Vinnie e Kay Gee) começaram como todo grupo de sucesso deve ter começado: amigos do mesmo colégio resolveram começar a cantar juntos com o nome de New Style. Deram sorte quando foram descobertos pela grande Queen Latifah alguns anos depois que decidiu bancar os moleques, botando eles para gravar um album em 1991 (Naughty By Nature). Resultado: Sucesso com O.P.P (lembram?) - "You down with OPP (Yeah you know me)" ...muito bom.
Depois do estrondoso sucesso de OPP, lançaram o segundo album em 1993 (19 Naughty III), onde tem a melhor homenagem que já foi feita ao HipHop até hoje (que eu tenha ouvido). A música é tão boa que até hoje é usada como referência incontestável de HipHop de qualidade por qualquer um que saiba o que fala. A música em questão é Hip Hop Hooray

hehe, muito boa essa música... yes indeed!
Depois disso, lançaram em 1995 o album (Poverty's Paradise)que deu a eles o Grammy de melhor album de Rap (sim, eles também fazem rap). Na minha opnião esse album foi meio fraquinho, mas enfim...
Ai os problemas começaram a aparecer. Um dos feios (Treach) resolveu levar a sério o trabalho como ator - até participou da série Oz - e outro lá resolveu ser produtor. Ainda assim conseguiram se juntar de novo em 1999 gravando o album 19 Naughty Nine: Nature's Fury, que para mim foi um dos melhores. Aqui no Brasil a música que ficou mais conhecida foi Jamboree; eu prefiro Wicked Bounce

Como todo grupo bom está fadado a durar pouco, em 2002 foi lançado o último album deles (IIcons). Nessa época o Key Gee já tinha abandonado o grupo para se dedicar à sua carreira de produtor integralmente. A música melhorzinha nesse trabalho foi Feels Good (Don't Worry Bout a Thing) feita em parceria com as meninas do 3WL.
E assim se foi o Naughty By Nature.
